No, Nothing Surprises God, but I had a little surprise a week or so after this tiny volume made its way home with me. I shared the story of the journal in a previous post, but God has showed me another little treasure about this book. Do you see that tiny little printing down in the corner there? “Prov. 3:5-6”. I’ve quoted the verse above. It has always been one of my favorite Scripture treasures, and one I seek to live by everyday. In the mundane, in the hard places, or in the adventure — God’s always there directing our paths when we lean on His wisdom and His all-knowingness.
We rarely know where the path ahead of us will lead. We may have some ideas and our own thoughts on the matter, but the forks in the road, the switchbacks, the unexpected vistas are inevitable. When we follow the instructions of these verses, God may take us in some incredibly unexpected directions and put us in awe of what we never imagined — all for the sake of increasing our love relationship with Him. I expect this trip will be much like that. I’m trusting Him with much that I do not know or understand. I wonder why He has my going on this trip? I wonder what I will learn? I wonder what He’ll show me that I never imagined, but will have me in awe of His perfection and grace? But…. Nothing Surprises God!
