Not Even a Mouse (or a Compassion Child) Slips through the Cracks

House Mouse eating bread shard from the floor. ** Note: Shallow depth of field

God’s love is meteoric, his loyalty astronomic, His purpose titanic, his verdicts oceanic. Yet in his largeness nothing gets lost; Not a man, not a mouse, (not a sponsored Compassion child) slips through the cracks.
—Psalm 36:5-6, The Message Bible

“This experience will probably be different than anything you’re expecting.” Seasoned mission trippers have made a repeated litany of this thought to me the last several months. What I’m challenged to wrap my brain around is pretty much any expectations at all — well, except for the opportunity to meet my two sponsored girls in El Salvador for the very first time.

Sharing with someone today that this is my very first trip like this ever, her kind reply was, “It will be one of your best!” What great encouragement! Speaking of encouragement, the above verse appeared in material for a Bible study I’m doing. It really grabbed my attention. My immediate response was if “not a mouse” then why not “not a Compassion child”? I do expect to see the amazing job Compassion does sharing God’s Love, Loyalty, Purpose, and Verdicts with these precious children of His — so they know that they know He keeps them from falling through the cracks. Excited to begin making those discoveries just 3 weeks from tomorrow.
